What is the Hall of Awesome?

Did you know that the Rolling Stones, despite having sold over 250 million albums worldwide, having 38 Top-10 albums on the Billboard Hot 100, plus 8 number one singles...prior to 2025 won only THREE Grammy awards for their music?

"Sweet" Lou Whitaker, the all-time great second baseman for the Detroit Tigers, has a WAR of 75.1 (higher than Ryne Sandberg, Craig Biggio, and Roberto Alomar) and an OPS+ of 117, which happens to be the average second basement currently in the Hall of Fame. Despite this impressive resume, Whitaker has only appeared on the Hall of Fame ballot ONE time, and in that year received only 2.9% of the vote.

Glenn Close, despite being nominated eight times, has never won an Academy Award for acting. Others who have never won include directors Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick, and Spike Lee. You know who has won an Oscar? Both Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Cher.

And I'll bet you can guess what Motorhead, Joy Division, Phil Collins, Diana Ross, and the B-52's all have in common. Yep...none are enshrined in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And don't even get me started on Weird Al Yankovic. That guy is a national treasure!

Let's be honest. Big commercial award programs and halls of fame are all subjective by nature, but mix in politics, money, and just general douchery, and you get some pretty crazy results. Anyone remember when some writers left Greg Maddux completely off their ballot just to make sure he didn't get 100% of the vote?

So here we are. No categories, strict criteria, or really rules of any kind. You won't find Jethro Tull beating Metallica for "Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Performance" here. What you will find is Awesomeness. People, places, things...whatever you think is awesome. Submit a nomination, vote on the most awesome, and celebrate the winners in all their glory.
